WSTL: EPISTLES
MALAPROP
7-13 June
Online / your own phone
Some day, Where Sat the Lovers will be a live theatre show by MALAPROP. It’s going to have lava lamps and hallucinations and codes and seats and lights and people. It will be about seeing meaning where there’s none and vice versa. But for now, because we can’t all be together in one place, it’s a series of messages sent to your phone, by us, over the course of seven days. Videos, links, thoughts, suggestions.
Because we can’t perform our play live right now, instead we will send you a text a day for a week, with snippets, videos, and messages between the characters. It’s not a copy of the play, or the full story, but it gives you an idea and a flavour of it.
Epistles is a glimpse into the world of Where Sat the Lovers: who the characters are, what they’re thinking and talking about, and what Isaac Newton’s favourite emoji would be if he was alive now.
Epistles is not a digital copy of WSTL the live show. It’s a companion, a commentary, a riff. Some of the time it’ll be us speaking to you directly. (More or less.) Some of the time it’ll be the characters from the live show. (More or less.) Where exactly the line between author and actor falls may not be clear. Which is fun, right?
WSTL: Epistles will be presented as part of both Carlow Arts Festival and Cork Midsummer Festival. Though these two versions will be similar, they won’t be exactly the same. So you can do both, if you want.

“A company of real ambition. One which is using theatrical form to grapple with the complexities of a world where the ground is constantly shifting beneath our feet and where what we believe can be recalibrated not just on a daily basis but minute by minute.”
Lyn Gardner, Stagedoor
“MALAPROP have quickly distinguished themselves as one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging companies.”
Ruth McGowan, Dublin Fringe Festival director
Supported by the Arts Council, Carlow Arts Festival, Cork Midsummer Festival and Project Arts Centre.
