Some foreigners hunt ducks somewhere, entirely camouflaged by the landscape. In a world of landscapes punctuated by shotguns and screams, alienated and electric characters arrive. Four blondes – capable of embodying imbecility, arbitrariness, absurdity and human tenderness at the same time, get ready to make a picnic. They seem to be beings without memory, without awareness of anything, nor of the hunters whom they never see due to their camouflaged suits. If any word could encompass this story, it would effectively be an aesthetic of disaster.
This film is a co creation between El Pampero Cine and the Grupo Krapp, both groups have been working and producing together in Buenos Aires for more than fifteen years. Named after Samuel Beckett’s play Krapp’s Last Tape,this experimental group, consisting of actors, dancers and musicians, is an enduring collective. Crossing humour with the possibilities of choreography, Grupo Krapp isn’t the sort of company that comes around very often, especially not from Argentina, land of the tango. They cherish the kind of absurdity that is full of light and dark edges.
