The Team

David is currently Programme Director and Executive Producer of Carlow Arts Festival. In addition to this he is also the Co-Artistic Director and Executive Producer of Carlow Live & Local Music Festival and is a Board Member of Theatre Forum Ireland.

He is the former Theatre Programme Manager at VISUAL Carlow (2018-22). In his position as Programme Manager, David commissioned and presented work by some of Irelands leading artists and companies. He was instrumental in developing and structuring the organisations artist support and development programme. Working alongside a wide variety of artists and community collaborators David also produced ambitious community engagement and participatory programmes that sought to embed artists practice at a local level, to promote the development of new audiences for both the institution and the artist. He also led on VISUAL’s participation in the Arts & Humanities Entrepreneurship Hub Project.

David’s book ‘Our Thriving Tribe; Exploring Entrepreneurship in the Arts’ launched in 2021 and features contributions from a variety of emerging and established Irish artists, practitioners and arts works from across the sector.

David is the former Chairperson of the Strollers Network (2019 -2022), Ireland’s largest consortium of Art Centres. He is a former lecturer of Drama and Performance Studies at Carlow College and has also guest lectured at other international educational institutions such as University of Wales, Universida de Alcalá and South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences.

He holds a BA in Drama & Performance form TU Dublin, an MFA in Art in the Contemporary World from the National College of Art & Design and a Prof Dip in Creativity, Innovation & Leadership from UCD.

Orlaith Treacy is a curator and creative producer based in Kilkenny. Orlaith creates, develops and collaborates with artists, arts organisations and communities on creative projects that draw people together in public spaces and places.

Orlaith has an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from Limerick School of Art and Design. In 2021, she completed a postgraduate course in Cultural Event Management with IADT Dun Laoghaire. She has received support from the Arts Council of Ireland, Kilkenny County Council Arts Office, Business to Arts and Creative Ireland.

When she manages to get away from her computer, you’ll find Orlaith at a good café, out for a walk or in the middle of the dancefloor.

Ferga has been working with Carlow Arts Festival as Outreach Coordinator and Artist Liaison Since 2016. A Carlow Town native and graduate of Carlow College, St. Patricks, Ferga takes care of our wonderful artists and loves working within community projects.

Over her time with CAF, Ferga has developed participatory relationships with local schools, community groups and care facilities for various projects including ‘Poet-Tree’, ‘Run Away With the Circus’, ‘Spoken Word Masterclass’, ‘The Dog Project’, ‘What Am I Worth’, ‘Cycling Circus’ and a Street Art Workshop.

When not organising planes, trains, automobiles, venues or people, you’ll find Ferga dancing in her kitchen or wandering amongst the trees.

Mikee works as a freelance production manager in opera, theatre and dance, and is based in Wexford where he lives happily with his family,

He is delighted to be working once more in Carlow with a great creative team. Carlow has become like a second home the last 2 years where Mikee has been working closely with VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art.

Mikee has worked extensively in Ireland, the UK and Europe. Previous Irish work includes Teac Damsa‘s ‘Mám’ and ‘Swanlake’; INO’s ‘Fidelio’, ‘Alice’s Adventures Underground‘, ’Magic Flute‘, and ‘Orfeo ed Euridice’; and Fabulous Beast Dance Company‘s ’Rian‘, ’Rite of Spring‘, and ’James’s Son of James’.

Janice is a Theatre Director and Facilitator. She holds a BA and an MA in Drama & Theatre Studies from UCC and a PG Dip in Theatre Directing from LAMDA. She is currently the Theatre Coordinator in KCAT Arts Centre and Assistant Producer of Carlow Live & Local. She is also the founder and Artistic Director of Slapdash Theatre Co., a community-based theatre company in Carlow.

Janice previously worked as Assistant Producer and Community Coordinator in VISUAL and she regularly teaches and facilitates drama in primary, secondary and further education schools and facilitates a variety of drama workshops for various community groups and organisations.
