Dancehall Weather gathers together various choreographic collaborations shot between 2014 and today. It was created through a programme that mixes videos using algorithms. After six hours of mixing Cecilia Bengolea’s archive, the algorithm generated this ten-minute invention. The shoot includes collaborations with artists such as Black Eagle, Equinoxx, Kissy McCoy, Erika Miyauichi -filmed while in Jamaica- and also features the piece Dublove –a work performed in Dia Beacon (New York) in 2017.
Cecilia Bengolea (Buenos Aires, 1979) translates her practice of anthropological community dance through video, sculpture and installation. She conceives performance as a form of animated sculpture that allows her to become both object and subject simultaneously. Infused with the symbolic energies found within nature and empathic relationships, her compositions are formed around ideas of the body – both individually and collectively – as a medium
