A group of children learn their ancestral dances and reflect on their complex and diverse current society, which claims its recognition as Afro-Mexican people.
Arriving from the underworld to accompany the living and dance to the living dead is an Afro-Mexican tradition that year after year is reproduced through the “Dance of the Devils” in a community in the state of Guerrero. A group of children learn this and other dances that represent their roots and history, but also their present. These dances of celebration, life and death, are interwoven with episodes of violence and insecurity, typical of the drug trafficking and narco-culture that have permeated the life of the region. In this context, the children find strategies to continue learning and organising performances for the dissemination of the dances.
