We’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of Carlow Arts Festival / Éigse this year.
Have you got a memory (picture, video or something else?) from the past 40 years of the Éigse / Carlow Arts Festival? It could be an event that you will never forget? Where you met your spouse? Your favourite artwork? Your first exhibition, gig or show? A chance encounter that changed your life? Or just something that struck a chord and stuck with you for years…
Tell us all about it!
We’re gathering a collective memory from the people of Carlow that paints a picture of the festival over the years. Send us through an image, a story, a video, a piece of art, a music track… anything that helps paint the picture of what Éigse / Carlow Arts Festival really means to the people of Carlow. It will be shared online and on-site at our Festival HQ at Carlow College St Patricks.
Share your memory with us on social media using the hashtag #CAF40 or email us at info@carlowartsfestival.com before 31 May.
History of the festival…
The festival started as a community initiative, celebrating Irish heritage through Irish language, poetry, music and dance – and has evolved to being one of only 7 Arts Council funded festivals in the country, and a highlight of the Irish cultural calendar.
The mission of the festival remains, from the beginning, to make art accessible for everybody. Over the past 40 years, the festival has presented outstanding artistic work from local and international artists to the people of Carlow, and welcomed presidents, prime-ministers and lots of international diplomats and delegates among our audiences.
The festival has had, and continues to have a significant impact on the cultural, economic and community landscape of Carlow, and we’re looking to hear what impact it has had on you!
