Our Saturday Night Spectacle, celebrating our 40thAnniversary, will have a sweet edge.
Drop what you’re doing and come join a celebration of life, a celebration of Carlow – made by acclaimed international Director Dina Abu Hamdan with musical collaboration by Denis Clohessy.
Following a year long collaboration with the people and communities of Carlow, the narrative came to life through stories and memories of Carlow’s recent past, real life characters and images.
Featuring live music, choirs and dance, Sugartown is a universal story of people who are in love with their land who are determined to carry on. It will feature professional and community performers including; Carlow Choral Society under the direction of Music Director Blanaid Murphy, Carlow College of Music, Aspiro, Take A Part Carlow’s Let Loose Youth Group, members of Music Generation Carlow, Burnside Eurocyl, Ballet Barn, County Carlow Youth Theatre, Dance Republic, the award winning local Uillean Piper Joseph Byrne and many more local and national artists and contributors.
Of course it would not be Saturday night at Carlow Arts Festival without Fireworks. Sugartown will finish with an epic bang!
